Sep 23, 2017  As answered more elaborate on this page: Jon Waterschoot's answer to What is the best drawing software for tablets? Quick list (tools that I've used in the past):. Adobe Photoshop (many tools, paid). Adobe Illustrator (vector based, paid). Au.

  • Best drawing/editing software to use with Wacom tablets? Hey, I've tried to search on this subreddit specifically for info about software but I couldn't find much. I have a Wacom tablet, support for it is fine with my distro of choice so that's not the issue, however all the software that came with it was Windows only.
  • The brand new Intuos Black Art is the best drawing tablet for beginners. It is also one of the best animated drawing frames. Bluetooth wireless, higher pen pressure (4096), improved design and 2 free software. Everything else is the same, just a little more expensive.

(I'm assuming you're using your tablet for drawing and similar, so I won't get into layout and InDesign stuff)

I can imagine everyone listing countless names of software. I think some of you want the blunt, direct opinion so here's my personal assessment and recommendation for all these softwares:

Paint (Windows): Easy to use, great to get into digital art. It can be and feel limiting but I guarantee you, your Wacom tablet will work with it almost every time.

Gimp: takes a bit of time to get into, still quite easy compared to others. You might have to search for what you want if you have just started with digital.

Paint tool Sai: There's not much hidden here, but still a powerful software. While you can't edit (filterwise) as much (compared to Gimp, Krita, Photoshop) you can create incredible stuff with it. For the Wacom Intuos : There can be mapping problems and jittery lines every now and then. Maybe Wacom's infamous driver problems are to blame, but thankfully the Sai community knows how to solve most of them.

Krita: A software which feels like a lite Photoshop version for painters. Especially with the new update, promising new features can be found. For the Wacom Intuos : There can be sensitivity problems and slow recognition of lines. But I have seen others use it, some with other brands, and it seems to work well. So perhaps just an issue I have with it.

Photoshop: I don't think I need to tell a lot about it, so let's jump right to the tablet part:

Media monkey download free. With the older CS2,3,4,5,… Versions, some problems I have encountered (please note that these can be mine exclusively) slow line recognition, basic driver problems, express keys not working accordingly.

Please not that every problem won't necessarily happen every time. It is purely based on personal experience I and others I know have frequently had.

My last words: Your Wacom drawing tablet is one of the most commonly known and used of all beands out there. Most softwares are accustomed to this brand and should work well with it.
