Spider Man 2 Computer Game
So this game is very different from the console version. In fact it's an entirely new game. It runs on the Unreal 2 engine (as a lot of movie licensed shovelware at the time did) instead of the proprietary Treyarch engine of the console version. The controls use a first person shooter control scheme which is unusual but surprisingly easy to get used to.
The gameplay feels very standard and incredibly simplified as you click to do pretty much every action in the game; it just changes based on context. ie if you're next to a bad guy you'll punch them, if you're aiming at a far away target you'll shoot web at them. It's not as frustrating as you might think though. It's a pretty linear experience but does offer some minor exploring incentive with hidden collectibles. The game also has all new levels with some interesting ideas. The biggest flaw gameplay wise is how short it is. It offers very little genuine challenge.
The graphics aren't bad, but aren't anything spectacular. The lighting is pretty good. The only exception is the Spider-Man player model which actually looks really nice and has great satisfying animations and manages to look nicer than the console version in that regard. By default the game only works in 4x3 but since it runs in the Unreal engine, it's pretty easy to modify the ini file to make it work in 16x9 at 1080p. The simple graphics work in favor and offer a nice smooth performance.
I wouldn't recommend this game, but if you're curious about this game, knowing what you're getting into going in, then I wouldn't object to getting it. It's not the greatest game, but I had fun playing it, both ironically and genuinely. It's a below average game, but for a below average game, it's actually kind of enjoyable.
